Management Corner

  • Community Children’s Centres

  • Just as every child is unique, so is every Community Children’s Centre. However, while every centre is administered individually and has its own unique culture and character, we all follow the principles of ‘community based’ care. We focus on children, their families and communities, not on making a profit.

  • Importantly, our management system involves families. We encourage you to be actively involved in supporting both the centre and your child’s care and education.

For more information on Community Child Care Centres please visit their website through the Links page of this site.

  • Management Committee

  • The Management Committee is responsible for the overall operation of the centre and is the employer of the Director, Assistant Director and all educators. The Committee consists of parent representatives, one staff representative, the Director and Assistant Director and persons representing organisations relevant to the centre.

  • The Management Committee meets once a month to discuss relevant issues and make decisions relating to the operation of the centre. These are open meetings and all families are encouraged to attend.

  • Streams

  • To ensure that the workload is evenly distributed, the Management Committee is divided into areas of responsibility and Streams are formed. Parent participation is encouraged in all the streams. These are as follows:

    • Research Stream: Reviews the constitution and philosophy as required. Records and updates the centre’s operational policies and supports the accreditation process and is responsible for researching and applying for grants.
    • Leadership Stream: Supports all aspects related to staffing, including job descriptions, contracts and staff evaluation. Responsible for preparing the budget and setting child care fees and monitors income and expenditure and implements an organisation structure to support the long-term goals and day-to-day functions of the centre.
    • Families Stream: Supports the centre to provide and maintain a safe, secure and aesthetically pleasing environment and encourages families to be involved in the centre and supports the negotiation of the curriculum by all stakeholders.
